Kudos following our WSCUC site visit!

Dear AVÀÇ community,

Congratulations to all! Our much anticipated and planned for WSCUC accreditation reaffirmation site visit concluded last Friday with the formal reading of commendations and recommendations.

First and foremost, thank you to each and every community member who worked so hard to report on our collective efforts over the past 10 years whether in the report itself or the nearly 30 meetings that occurred during our site visit. The high level of your involvement and engagement were noted and appreciated by the review team. Kudos to all who contributed. Special appreciation goes to Fanny Yeung, Maureen Scharberg, Julie Stein, and Sarah Nielsen for their consistent stewardship throughout the process.

I take immense pride in our progress and commitment to continuous improvement as reflected in three strong commendations revolving around our mission alignment, commitment to students, consistent assessment methods and use of data.

I am also proud of the recommendations we received, all of which we are already actively working on. There were no surprises and I have no doubt we will be able to document consistent progress on these recommendations immediately and as we move forward.

As the WSCUC team chair described during her final report to us, the remaining steps are as follows:
  • Preliminary review team report is sent to president
  • President responds to the report, corrects any factual inaccuracies, and sends draft report to WSCUC review team chair
  • WSCUC review team chair finalizes the report
  • WSCUC sends final team report to president
  • President can comment and respond to final team report
  • President meets in-person with the full Commission at their June meeting
  • Commission votes on our reaffirmation at their June meeting
  • President receives final letter and final report, both of which will be shared publicly

Again, thank you all for your participation in this intense and important milestone in the accreditation reaffirmation process. We did it! I am enormously proud of you and our collective commitment to continuous improvement.

Warmly yours,

Cathy Sandeen
President
