Program Options
CSU East Bay offers several program options for students interested in studying in another country or in another part of the U.S. You are welcome to browse any or all of them using the links below.
We have also put together a list of suggested programs by major, as well as programs that offer the opportunity to study another language abroad. Some students also consider adding a minor (or double major) in Global Studies!
Interested in studying abroad? Start your research with CSU IP. CSU IP offers semester and year-long programs in 18 countries, developed by AVÀÇ for CSU students. CSU IP provides one of the most affordable program options for CSU students as well as the support of preparing to study abroad with a cohort of students from throughout the CSU system. Students continue to pay CSU tuition, and additional costs vary depending on the cost of living in the host country, the local rate of inflation, the currency exchange rate, the length of the academic year, and personal spending habits.
CSUEB exchange programs offer benefits similar to CSU International Programs, but the host campus partnerships are specifically for CSU East Bay students. CSU East Bay currently has 5 exchange partner programs available (2 in Asia, and 2 in Europe and 1 in Australia), and we are in discussions with some additional universities, so may have additional opportunities in the coming year. We host students from our exchange partners most semesters, which provides the opportunity for you to connect with a student here on campus before you study abroad!
International Student Exchange Program (ISEP)
If you're looking for a bit more independence, or if the destinations offered through CSU International Programs or CSUEB Exchanges aren't quite right, then ISEP might be just what you're looking for! Through ISEP, students have the opportunity to study in one of over 50 countries for a semester or academic year, as well as a number of summer programs.
National Student Exchange (NSE)
Would you like the opportunity to study in another state without paying out of state/nonresident tuition? NSE is (primarily) a domestic exchange program, which allows students to study in another university in another U.S. state or U.S. territory (Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam). NSE is also a great option for students interested in our neighbor to the north, Canada! NSE also offers an exchange option for DACA/undocumented students and other students concerned about traveling outside the U.S.
Summer Program Options
Looking for programs shorter than a semester in length? Here are our recommendations.
If you are considering studying through a program not affiliated with CSUEB, please make note of these administrative/financial/academic considerations.
Looking for additional ways to spend time overseas? (Either instead of - or in addition to - traditional study abroad programs?) Perhaps you are interested in post-graduate study or pursuing research abroad, or volunteer or work opportunities.
