Transfer Admission Requirements

You may apply as a Transfer student if you have completed college units after graduation from high school.

Check the Requirements below:

You will be required to submit your official high school transcripts with evidence that you have graduated along with transcripts of ALL schools that you have attended.

Meet all freshman admission requirements:

  • Have graduated from high school or taken and passed the GED.
  • Have completed the A-G college prep requirements.
  • Have a 2.50 or greater GPA as a California resident or California high school graduate.
  • Have a 3.00 or greater GPA as a non-resident or non-California high school graduate.

Requirements for transfer of college credits:

  • Have completed less than 60 transferable semester units or 90 transferable quarter units prior to transferring.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 (C) or better in all college transferable units attempted.
  • Be in good standing at the last institution attended.

Lower-division applicants may not apply to Nursing or Pre-Nursing.

An Upper-Division Transfer is classified as an applicant who has earned a minimum of 60 semester / 90 quarter transferable units.

Minimum requirements for Upper Division Transfer:

  • Have completed 60 semester / 90 quarter or more transferable units.
  • Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better in all transferable units attempted.
  • Be in good standing at the last college or university attended.

Note: Upper-division applicants may apply to the Nursing major, but a higher minimum GPA and additional supplemental documents are required.  For Nursing requirements, see BS Nursing Prospective Students.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION AS AN UPPER DIVISION STUDENT, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE PRIOR SPRING TERM FOR FALL ADMISSION AND BY THE END OF THE PREVIOUS FALL TERM FOR SPRING ADMISSION:

Applicants from a U.S. college must have a grade of C or better in each of the following courses that meet the General Education requirements at AVÀÇ:

  • Oral Communication: a public speaking course (A1 at California community colleges)
  • Written Communication: a freshman English composition course (A2 at California community colleges)
  • Critical Thinking: a logic or argumentation/debate course (A3 at California community colleges)
  • Math / Quantitative Reasoning: a math course with intermediate algebra as a prerequisite (B4 at California community colleges). The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) requirements in English communication and mathematical concepts and quantitative reasoning are also accepted.

To determine if your courses will transfer and/or satisfy the above requirements (A1, A2, A3, B4) you can use the following resources:

  • Private or out-of-state colleges: CSUEB maintains the TES database of pre-approved transfer courses from private and out-of-state colleges. If you do not see your course listed, it does not necessarily mean it will not be transferable since it only contains courses already reviewed by our staff. You can  .

Additional Information:

  • Ordinary Level (O-Level): we accept O-Level passes. CSUEB requires that five subjects are passed in one sitting or the same year, including Math and English (English as an ESL is not acceptable).
  • Advanced Level (A-Level): we accept up to 24 semester (36 quarter) units with individual class grades C- or higher.
  • You may be eligible to receive college credits by taking and ). Requirements are applied.

AVÀÇ offers conditional admission for undergraduate programs to students who are academically qualified but have not met the English proficiency requirement at the time of application. These students are issued a conditional admission letter to AVÀÇ and are required to attend the Global Academy Intensive English Program until they meet the language requirement (IELTS or TOEFL). English Proficiency by Coursework:

  • Transferred from a U.S. college with 60 or more semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.4, and have completed a transfer course in each of the following general education areas with a grade of 2.0 or better: English composition, speech, critical thinking, and mathematics.
  • Demonstrate 3 years of full-time academic study in one of the following countries where the language of instruction was English as accepted by AVÀÇ (see list below).

We accept the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT version or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic version of the exams.TOEFL Essentials, IELTS General Training, PTE, or Duolingo English tests are not accepted.
